Paul Cézanne (1839-1906) was a famous French painter, a representative of Post-Impressionism, who worked simultaneously with the Impressionists, but went further than them in search of his own style. For some time, the painter was under their influence, studied with friends, exhibited with them his work, but was not limited to the finding of Impressionism - the transfer of the momentary state of nature and visible to the human eye reality. On the contrary, Cézanne was looking for a form-forming basis and internal logic of nature. The master's art was recognized only at the end of his life.
Cézanne's work anticipated cubism and abstractionism. He opened to the world a "new art", born not by repeating reality, but by constructing its model in the mind of the artist, and therefore deeply individual and original.
The edition includes about 230 works by Paul Cézanne, an article on his biography and the genres of painting in which the master worked, as well as the main stages of his life and work.
