The first project on digitization of the library collection of the State Historical Museum opens with a magnificently illustrated rare book 'Antiquities of the Russian State', published by the Highest Command of Emperor Nicholas I in 1846-1853.
'Antiquities of the Russian State' includes 6 separate notebooks of text and 508 chromolithographed tables depicting objects of Old Russian art. The drawings are by the artist and archaeologist F.G. Solntsev (1801-1892). His watercolors depict symbols of state power, weapons, grand-princely, boyar and tsar's costume, monuments of architecture, etc. with jeweler's precision.
The project is realized in special software for creating facsimile editions. It allows you to view pages in different modes, as well as search the text and print individual pages.
