Common bearberry or bear's ear.
It has disinfectant, antibacterial, antiseptic, diuretic, astringent properties. These properties make it possible to successfully use bearberry in the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the bladder, urinary tract.
Antiseptic properties of bearberry leaves are due to the presence of tannins, and bactericidal properties - the presence of arbutin and methyl-arbutin, which are broken down in the body into hydroquinone. It is hydroquinone that exhibits disinfectant and bactericidal action.
Preparations from bearberry leaves are maximally effective in the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the urinary system (pyelitis, cystitis, urethritis) of those people who have an alkaline reaction of urine.
Thanks to the flavonoids contained, bearberry preparations simultaneously increase diuresis and contribute to the removal of sodium and chlorine ions from the body. This makes it possible to use bearberry in renal failure, combined with a violation of water and mineral metabolism.
But more bearberry is used for involuntary urination, diarrhea, intestinal atony, diabetes, pulmonary tuberculosis. Externally, decoction is used to heal purulent wounds.
Method of preparation and use: 1 tbsp. spoon pour a glass of hot boiled water and heated on a water bath for 15 minutes with frequent stirring. Cooled, squeezed, the volume of the resulting infusion brought boiled water to 200 ml. Take 1 tablespoon 3 times a day.
Contraindications: individual intolerance.
