Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920) is an outstanding Italian portrait painter, graphic and sculptor belonging to the Paris School. One of the most famous artists at the beginning of the 20th century.
Spectacular, adventure, charismatic - it has become a legend during his lifetime. It combined unbridled explosive temperament and aristocratic elegance. High intelligence, erudition and versatile interests made Modiglians an outstanding interlocutor, and fantastic hard work made him study tirelessly, create, look for new forms, and experiment with color.
Most full talent of Modigliani opened in the portrait genre. "Man is what interests me. The human face is the highest creation of nature. For me, this is an inexhaustible source, ”he said. The artist never wrote custom portraits, he portrayed only those people whom he knew well. The painter’s work was not in demand by society, but despite this, he devoted his whole life to art without a trace.
The publication includes more than 100 works by Amedeo Modigliani, an article on the facts of biography and painting genres, in which the master worked, as well as the main stages of his life and creativity.
