Valentin Aleksandrovich Serov (1865-1911)-an outstanding Russian portrait, a painter and a graphician who worked in such genres as a portrait, landscape, still life, theatrical and decoration art. The artist often turned to various graphic techniques - watercolors, pastels, lithography, etc., painted pictures on historical, mythological and household plots. Its drawings are distinguished by exquisite lightness and virtuosity.
Portraits created by Serov are perfect in their compositional and picturesque solution, they are filled with deeply true intonations of comprehension of human nature. In them, the master sought to most sharply emphasize the socio-psychological characteristics of his models.
Fabric "Girl with Persians", "Mika Morozov", "Portrait of M.N. Ermolova", "Portrait of I. Levitan", "Ida Rubinstein", "Peter I" and many others were a new significant stage development of domestic fine art. The publication includes more than a hundred works of Valentin Serov, an article on the biography and genres of painting, in which the master worked, as well as the main stages of his life and creativity.
