In a small town, fate reduces friends-students. Kolya Zhuravlev made a successful career as an official in Moscow, Lisa Batalova is also engaged in science. And Lenya Kudryavtsev works in a local museum with a beggarly salary and considers himself a typical loser. As in young years, Zhuravlev and Kudryavtsev are in love with Batalov. The very art critic is more interested in a rare engraving with the image of a unicorn without a trace many years ago. While in the archives of the province a woman is looking for a trace of the loss, in Moscow the owners of other engravings with the same plots are killed. And when a girl who looks like an art critic dies, it becomes clear: Lisa is in danger. Both Nikolai and Leonid are trying to protect their beloved. True, everyone does it in their own way ...
