As a result of the scientific experiment, the scientist enthusiast today from 1812 is transferred to the lieutenant of the Life Guards of the Hussar Regiment Grigory Savelyevich Rylsky. Lieutenant enters the young family of a scientist Mitya, who is on the verge of a divorce. When trying to return the hussar back to the past, the time machine breaks down, and the lieutenant is forced to stay in the 21st century, until the scientist fixes the car.
