The action of the series unfolds in the late 70s. The ministerial authorities dissatisfied with Lagin: he does not share money with them, but at the same time pays large salaries to the workers. Officials are trying to discredit it of the public’s eyes, accuse him of theft and anti -Soviet. Lagin begins to deal with bureaucratic arbitrariness and seeks protection in the Kremlin. He falls into the field of view of the KGB, after which the Chekists try to draw him into political games against the Minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Brezhnev’s call saves Lagov from prison. However, after the death of the Secretary General, hunting begins again and he is arrested. The bandits attack the mine, and the sons of Lagin defend the father’s business. While in prison, Lagin writes a letter to Andropov about the need for reforms in the gold mining industry. Andropov understands that the country needs changes, and unexpectedly for all the lags are released.
