The head of the guard of the fire department Tokarev, in the past, the investigator, informally investigates negligence with the purchase of respiratory devices, because of which his colleague became disabled. Traces lead to his former friend, businessman Kolosov, whose company supplies equipment throughout the country. But Kolosov is killed, accusing his wife of murder. Before his death, Kolosov, taking advantage of the connections, arranged his adopted son Denis in the calculation of Tokarev. Now Tokarev and Denis have to understand the mysterious death of Kolosov.
