The world of plants is a unique gift of nature to mankind. Even in ancient times people widely used green parts of plants, roots and rhizomes for treatment and prevention of diseases. The medicinal and nutritional properties of most of them have been verified by centuries of experience. In this reference book-atlas in an accessible form describes 259 plants from 90 families growing in Russia and neighboring countries. It includes botanical characteristics, geographical distribution, methods of harvesting, information on the chemical composition of plants and useful properties, as well as recipes for their use. A large number of appendices and annotations will facilitate and make more effective use of the atlas. They include recipes for multi-component collections and medicinal teas - over 900 in total, various indexes, including Russian and Latin names of plants, their synonyms and families. Where possible, the etymology of plant names is given. The project is intended for biologists, medics, geographers, students of relevant specialties, pupils, collectors of medicinal herbs, owners of garden plots and all nature lovers.
