Alexander Yakovlevich Golovin (1863 - 1930) belongs to the number of brilliant painters working at the turn of XIX - XX centuries. He is an unusually peculiar artist, whose art is characterized by a unique original style. Golovin showed himself as a master of portraiture, still life and landscape, but his true fame came as a theater decorator.
For a long time A. Golovin was the chief decorator of St. Petersburg imperial theaters, as well as a consultant to the directorate on artistic issues.
