In the novel by Vladimir Medvedev, Zakhkhok comes to life of the exotic and terrible world of Central Asia. The scene is Tajikistan, time is the civil war of the early 1990s. In the center of the novel, the fate of the Russian family, involuntarily remaining in the mountains of Pamir and fell into the hands of the new owners of the country. The author is also a native of Tajikistan.
