Our book will tell young readers about the son of Vladimir the Baptizer - the great prince of Kiev, Yaroslav. This prince is known as intelligent, brave, and enlightened ruler, who did a lot for the prosperity and growth of the authority of Ancient Rus. He defeated the Pechenegs, strengthened the external borders of the state, established relations with many European countries, founded several new cities, created the first code of Russian law, later called the 'Russian Truth'. Thanks to him, Kiev was adorned with numerous temples, among which the magnificent St. Sophia Cathedral stood out. It was under Yaroslav that the monastery was founded, later known as the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Prince Yaroslav entered history not only as a brave warrior and wise ruler, but also as an enlightener and book collector. He created an extensive library, opened the first schools for boys, contributed to the translation of church literature into the Slavic language. For these and many other deeds, Yaroslav received the nickname Wise, and the Orthodox Church glorified him as a righteous prince.
