With this guide, released as part of the RUSSIAN GUIDE. POLYGLOT series, you can confidently venture to the edge of the Earth. After all, that's how the Edge of the Earth is translated from the Nenets language of Yamal. This is the first guide in Russia to the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, whose local residents simply call it YAMAL, encompassing not only the eponymous peninsula but also the Taz Peninsula, a large part of the Gydan Peninsula, and the adjacent islands of the Kara Sea.
The guide was released in close collaboration with the Agency for the Development of Regional Tourism and the Tourist Information Center of YANAO, meaning that the routes here are the most reliable, the addresses are the most up-to-date, and the news is the freshest. The Tourist Information Center has attracted the best photographers who are in love with these lands, so you can even just look at the illustrations without reading the guide.
So, the polyglot guide to YAMAL invites you on an exciting and impressive journey through the realm of eternal frost, the vast tundra with its whimsical and surprisingly rich flora and fauna, to a land where the polar night lasts more than 40 days, periodically painting the sky with vibrant colors of the northern lights from acidic pinks and salads to bright yellows, toxic blues, and purplish-red hues. The northern lights are a sure bet for those hunting for vivid shots!
The guide will not only lead you through one of the nine routes (by the way, marked on maps-schemes) but also tell you where it is best to start the route, how to get there, how long the journey will take, and what main attractions (museums, parks, monuments, restaurants, and hotels) you will encounter along the way.
