The monograph aims to identify the main reasons and characterize the consequences of the return of modern public consciousness to pagan worldview, as well as outline the most general perspectives of further ideological development of the Euro-Atlantic civilization. The author provides interpretations of the concepts of 'faith', 'religion', 'ideology', 'worldview', and presents a scheme of the intermittent development of worldview concepts of European humanity, different from the commonly accepted one, characterizing the processes of this development as continuous. The viewpoint is justified that the natural evolution of European worldview from polytheism to pantheism was interrupted by the emergence of Christian theism, followed by involution from theism through deism to atheism, which meant the return of reason to pantheistic ideas. It is argued that the rehabilitation of claims of limited human reason to self-sufficiency, which began from the Renaissance era (and even earlier), leading to secularization processes, has led to the forgetting of traditional religions and associated values, posing a threat to the very foundations of social life.
