The album is devoted to the memory of the participants and the victims of the First World War 1914-1918. Hundreds of Russian artists, art historians and museum workers took part in the battles, and those who did not go to the front - draftsmen, painters and sculptors - included in the fight against the enemy means of visual art. They participated in the work of the military-artistic squad and two trophy commissions, created pictures and posters designed to raise the combat spirit of compatriots, depicted battles and their heroes, painted caricatures for magazines.
