Book of an outstanding scientist-Slavist Academician O.N. Trubacheva "Works on etymology" contains more than a hundred of his work, originally a list of which was (still during the author"s life) one of his students A.G. Grigoryan. Initially, this project was founded by Oleg Nikolayevich impossible: scattered in various domestic and foreign sources of the article (almost for 50 years of scientific activity) to find and collect together really not difficult. All the more pleasant to create that the efforts did not turn out to be in vain. In the process of work, the project of the content of the future book was significantly expanded with the orientation on a more complete coverage of the fundamental for the Slavs and in general, for modern lies, the problems considered by scientists against the background of etymological analysis of a colossal lexical material. Taking into account these problems, the heading of published articles was also formed. Incidentally invaluable works, collected in two volumes of this publication, do not exhaust all the works of all the works of the scientist in the art, but at the same time give an idea of the views of the author to solve the most important problems of Slavic etymology, historical linguistics and understanding of cultural and historical significance Etymological studies.
