Millions of Russian people left their homeland after the 1917 revolution, convinced that they would not return until the Bolshevik government in Russia collapsed. However, immediately after the Civil War, despite the pressure from the aggressive emigrant community, the prominent writer Alexei Tolstoy returned to the USSR - becoming the first great returnee. Following him, Maxim Gorky, Alexander Kuprin, Sergei Prokofiev, Marina Tsvetaeva, Sergei Konenkov returned to Soviet Russia. Each had their own reasons for returning to their homeland, they chose their own destiny - and did not regret it. It turned out that life in exile was unbearable for true patriots, and the USSR was not hell on earth. They will tell their stories in this book. Today, this lesson from history remains relevant.
