The mid-1980s. A student at the police university, Yun Vechhul, studying the works of Western sociologists, realizes that soon South Korea will be engulfed by an epidemic of serial killings similar to those that occurred in the USA. Later, he is impressed by the book of the legendary FBI profiler John Douglas, 'Mindhunter', which describes the capture of maniacs using methods unknown in Korea - further strengthening his belief in the impending epidemic of murders. Becoming a police inspector, he dreams of creating profiling and hires the promising investigator Kwon Iryon. By the early 2000s, Yun Vechhul's predictions come true - serial killers begin to appear in Korea. Kwon Iryon not only has to hunt down a completely unknown type of criminal but also defend the need to introduce innovative investigation methods. 'Who Reads the Heart of Darkness' is the real story of the challenging journey of South Korea's first profiling team and their hunt for the infamous serial killers in the country.
