Before drawing in the book with a child, review it yourself. It is clear that the pictures in the book are intended for finger painting. Pay attention to the explanatory pages for the illustrations. They contain:
- Accompanying texts that will help you engage the child with the illustration and painting in it. Introducing the situation is extremely desirable to create motivation for subsequent work. Each main text presentation is supplemented with phrases (under the heading 'What else can be said'), which we recommend using during the creative impulse.
- On these same pages, in the lower left corner, four paint jars are drawn. This means that we are working within the limits of four colors. This is quite enough for an engaging painting activity at this age. It is clear that illustrations that need to be colored with four colors are the most complex. And the gray color of the jars indicates the absence of color. This orientation will allow you to choose the complexity of the picture for the activity yourself, gradually increasing the child's work from one color to four.
Remember that finger painting is primarily about dots, not lines. We teach the child to work easily and coordinately within the sheet, and also try to instill a sense of rhythm and harmony.
