Published in Berlin in 1932, a book unfairly forgotten later, is one of the first attempts to present the history and future of the first wave of Russian emigration, also known as the 'White' emigration. Its author was Essad Bey, a mysterious Eastern writer who published numerous popular books throughout Europe in the 1920s and 1930s. In reality, he was Lev Abramovich Nussimbaum (1905-1942), who grew up in Baku and fled to Germany after the revolution. After Hitler came to power, he had to flee again: first to Austria, then to Italy, where he ended his earthly journey.
