"White Guard" is the first great work of Bulgakov and the only novel who was published during the life of the author. For the first time - in the magazine "Russia" back in 1925, completely novel was published in France in 1927-1929.
This is the history of the civil war of 1918, the history of the collapse of the obstacles and traditions, risked by eyewitness and participant of those events. But at the same time it is the most interesting, in many respects autobiographical family saga. Almost all characters have prototypes - relatives, friends, familiar Bulgak family.
