Prose Avrome Suzkevera (1913-2010) is only a small part of his creative heritage, but its importance is difficult to overestimate. Without her, as without his poems, it is impossible to imagine not only Jewish, but also without exaggeration, world literature of the twentieth century. The book Where the stars spent the night is a collection of stories written at different times and united by one topic - meaninglessness, inhumanity and cruelty of war. Symbolic, saturated with metaphors and comparisons of the prose of Suskevera is akin to poetry - so deeply of its images. Sketches, short stories are bonded with each other, like units of one chain. Earlier, only the Green Aquarium and Diary of Messiah were translated earlier, the remaining stories were transferred for the first time
