What is the new novel about?
As always with Folks, it is dense, figurative, witchcraft and musical prose, reliable psychologically and honest existential. This is the story of Robert Hendricks, a successful psychiatrist and writer. He is a little person, cynic (especially in relations with women) Gradually, we understand that Robert’s not everything is as simple in life as he would like to show others. His father died in the First World War, he himself is a second veteran, and he is haunted by strange and gloomy obsession - either his own suppressed memories or his father"s experience. Once Robert comes an invitation from another psychiatrist, the elderly Alexander Pereira, to visit him on a small island in Southern France. Pereira is a strange subject with his skeletons in the closet. From him, Robert finally learns about the circumstances of the death of his father, and these conversations open his own past for him, and in him a beautiful and tragic love story
