The book by the prominent Chinese economist, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Cai Fang, explains why China's policy of reform and openness has successfully stimulated economic growth. Relying on facts and the logic of economic analysis, the author briefly described China's successful development over the past 40 years and showed the history of the unprecedented improvement in the standard of living and the provision of basic social services. The author evaluated the stages of China's economic development, identified new challenges and tasks facing the country's economic development, proposed his vision of transitioning from relying on demographic dividends to obtaining reform dividends. The author discussed the path to maintaining sustainable economic growth and overcoming the middle-income trap, as well as transitioning to a stage of development with a high income level. The book uses a normative analytical approach to economics and tells about the Chinese economic miracle in accessible language.
