This book is a posthumous collection of works by the St. Petersburg historian and sociologist Alexei Markov (1967-2002) The main part of the book is the first published monograph about the Petrograd students of the 1910s - the first half of the 1920s as a special public group with their set of value attitudes, ideological and communicative practices. The appendix contains articles on the evolution of education, "body politicians" and the history of sexuality in Russia of the late XIX - the first third of the XX century, as well as the problems of modern Russian humanitarian science.
