“Weed” is a unique book. This is an autobiography of the criminal - Giuseppe Grassonelli, accused of a series of murders and serving life imprisonment - which is written in collaboration with journalist Karmelo Sardo. The book was awarded the prestigious Italian Literary Prize named after Leonardo Shashi - this caused a scandal, and the chairman of the jury refused to participate in the meeting. According to the book Weed, a documentary was shot that caused a living polemic. The fate of Grassonelli, obsessed with blood feud, is truly tragic and terrible. Honestly and artlessly, he talks about his life, in which two hypostasis - a cruel criminal and a person - are inseparable. The authors of the book seem to push the reader to endure the moral verdict: is the hero guilty or deserves mercy, because in twenty years of prison he was able to become another person?
