The offered philosophical work to the reader by the prominent Russian thinker and writer V.N. Ivanov (1888-1971) was published in 1926 in Harbin under the title 'We'. In Russia, it was first published under the title 'We in the West and in the East...' (SPB., 2005). The author of the book is usually associated with the representatives of Eurasianism. However, the writer himself did not consider himself to be a Eurasianist or an anti-Eurasianist or anyone else.
Among the works of Russian emigrant thinkers who contemplate the historical path of Russia, its prospects after October 1917 in the context of its relations with the West and the East, the book by V.N. Ivanov occupies a special place. Namely: it significantly complements and develops the concept of Eurasianists, who looked at Russia 'from the West - from Sofia, Prague, Berlin, Paris'. Whereas V.N. Ivanov first looked at Russia, its place and role in world history from the perspective of its belonging to the Far East. Today, when the Russian Federation turns towards the East in the broad sense of this term, including the Asia-Pacific region, expands and deepens its ties with the states of this region, Eurasia, the book by V.N. Ivanov gains special interest and relevance.
The book is addressed to a wide range of readers interested in the history of our country, especially the issues of the formation and development of Russian statehood.
