To us, people of the 20th century, looking back from today, the life back then doesn't seem bad at all. It was interesting, many had not only a common goal, but also their own dream, which, as a rule, was realized. No one was rummaging through garbage dumps in search of food, but no one was buying themselves personal planes and yachts either. There was no hatred of one people towards another, but we were proud of our great country, the most advanced science, and the best education in the world. The book does not describe the great achievements of the Soviet people. The author recalls private cases from their practice as a Soviet journalist, often not making it into print. And in these stories, one can easily see the general atmosphere in which we lived and which is sorely missed by all of us - young and old - today.
