James Oliver Curwood (1878 - 1927) was an American writer, journalist, environmentalist, and author of adventure literature. A passionate hunter, naturalist, and traveler, Curwood roamed the remote areas of Northern Canada, knowing and loving this harsh land well. His best works are dedicated to the nature of Canada and the lives of the four-legged inhabitants of the Canadian North. The main characters of his novels are wild animals in the wild - wolves, dogs, bears, and others. The little black bear cub Neewa and the puppy Miki are the heroes of the story "Nomads of the North" (1919) - from a young age, they are left alone with the harsh northern nature. Will the little friends survive the misfortunes, will they find support and protection from humans, will they overcome all the trials that have befallen them? The book also includes the novel "The Flaming Forest" (1922).
