The study offered to your attention is devoted to the religious culture of Christians, or “whips”-Russian-mystics that arose at the turn of the XVII-XV11i centuries. Christians are an atypical example of a religious community that arose within the framework of Russian Orthodoxy. Initial in the religious culture of Christians was primarily their ritual practice, combining the singing of church prayers with spiritual verses and reading the Bible with ecstatic circles. The book is based on the desire of its author as in more detail to describe the religious practice of the first communities of Christians and find possible sources of its individual elements. To analyze the context, in which the culture of Christians arises and functions, studies devoted to folk religious practices, old -faith, phenomena of foolishness and clicks, self -flagellation, spiritual verses and forms of liturgical charter were involved
