On the banks of the mountain river Pamano, lost in the Pyrenees, the voices never cease. They echo past events, the pain of the past, and the noise of everyday life. Teacher Tina is collecting material for a book about local schools, stonemason Jaume is carving inscriptions on tombstones, aging beauty Elizenda, charming and deceiving, bribing and giving orders, carries out her secret judgment, like an avenging angel. But one day, a notebook accidentally found in a doomed school delivers to them the confession of a man, whom some considered a traitor and a murderer, while others saw him as a martyr. Jaume Cabré (b. 1947) is the biggest star of Catalan literature, his books have been translated into dozens of languages, their print runs exceed a million copies, and his epochal novel "I Confess" has won numerous awards.
