Oksana Bulgakova"s book Voice as a cultural phenomenon is devoted to the analysis of the perception and cultural existence of votes from the middle of the XIX century to the end of the twentieth. Considering the various aspects of voice practices (in the opera and dramatic theater, on the political scene, in cinema, etc), as well as the historical features of perception, the author explores the dynamics of relations between natural and artificial (mechanical, electric, electronic) in cultures of different countries. Especially in detail, it stops on the originality of the Russian understanding of the voice.
