The author of the book, Vladimir Ivanov, was born in Moscow in 1952. He was interested in radio engineering from childhood. After graduating from high school, he served in the Soviet Army as a radio technician from 1972-74. In 1981, he graduated from the Radio Engineering Faculty of the Moscow Institute of Electronic Machine Building (MIEM), where he worked in the cybernetics department until 1993. Like many at that time, he then worked as an entrepreneur without forming a legal entity in the computer field until 2002. He is also a radio amateur, a music lover with extensive experience, and a photographer for the iconic underground magazines "Zerkalo" and "URlait."
