The book presents parodic texts published in satirical weekly magazines of the 1860s-1870s. The main "building material" for the parodists was the poetry of A. S. Pushkin, M. Yu. Lermontov, V. A. Zhukovsky, E. A. Baratynsky, "Woe from Wit" by A. S. Griboyedov, "A Hero of Our Time" by M. Yu. Lermontov, "Asmodeus of Our Time" by V. I. Askochensky, "The Underwater Stone" by M. V. Aseev, "Fathers and Sons," "Eve," "Smoke," and "Ghosts" by I. S. Turgenev, "What Is to Be Done?" by N. G. Chernyshevsky, "The Troubled Sea" by A. F. Pisemsky, "Nowhere" and "On the Edge" by N. S. Leskov, "Crime and Punishment" and "The Devils" by F. M. Dostoevsky, and "War and Peace" by L. N. Tolstoy. The publication complements the anthologies of "Poetry of 'Iskra'," introducing new texts into scholarly circulation. The final section of the book includes prose works offered for independent commentary. The book is addressed to all readers interested in the history of Russian literature.
