In 1885, in the Russian private opera, Savva Mamontov, the Opera N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov Snow Maiden was put on the play-tales A.N. Ostrovsky. Sketches of scenery and costumes were performed by the artist Viktor Vasnetsov in the 1880s and 1895.
Vasnetsov took the ancient Russian architecture for the art basis, the motives of Russian folk embroidery, wood threads and wall paintings of the royal chambers. All this has turned into a surprisingly picturesque and fabulous world of Berendeva Kingdom. Scenic decorations and sketches of Vasnetsov costumes became a harmonious addition to the music of Roman Corsakov.
The set includes postcards with reproductions of graphic sketches of costumes and scenery to this opera.
The cover presents an independent picture Snow Maiden (1899), made by oil on canvas and not related to the cycle, executed by the artist for theater.
