The author of the book, the leading herpetologist of the Moscow Zoo, doctor of veterinary sciences, a full member of the ARAV (International Association of Veterinarians practicing with amphibians and reptiles) is well known to the reader from the books “Turtles and Treatment”, “Lizards: Green Iguans”, as well as television programs “In the world of animals”, many scientific and popular science publications. In 2001, 2005 and 2007, Dmitry Vasiliev received the Golden Scalpel Award from the Association of practitioners of veterinarians for scientific contribution to the development of veterinary medicine of small domestic animals and in the lecturer of the year.
This book was written by the author not just as a monograph on lizard diseases, but also as a textbook and as a practical guide. For this, at the end of each section, questions are given for self -testing, calculated tasks and real clinical situations are analyzed. General issues of veterinary herpetology are considered on the example of various groups of reptiles, issues of diagnosis and therapy of specific diseases, mainly on the example of lizards. This is a volumetric guide for veterinary medicine, built on a didactic principle, includes 54 tables, more than 500 color and black and white illustrations, more than 800 literary sources.
