After the Bolshevik revolution on October 25, 1917, the state councilor Klim Panteleevich Ardashev, the head of the Counterintelligence Bureau of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with his wife and maid, leaves for Stavropol in the hope of weathering the turmoil in a quiet provincial town. However, events in the provincial capital connect Stavropol, London, Petrograd, Moscow, the headquarters of the Volunteer Army, and Novorossiysk. Ardashev manages to unravel the tangle of mysterious incidents and overcome all obstacles on the way to goodness and light. 'Sentence' is the conclusion of the novel 'The Mystery of the Persian Caravan'.
