By offering pious readers a description of the lives and feats of the reverend and the gloomy father of our Sergius, who worked in his compilation considers a debt to say that he did not mean to write a scientist research on the life of the home of God: he wondered a more modest goal - to collect in one book Everything that could be found in the historical and preaching literature about St. Sergius, and to combine in one whole, not only all that have come down to us the details of his life, but also those moral lessons that our preachers have learned from the legend. For the present - the fifth edition is again revised, everything that happened in 1891 - 1893 on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the piping of the ward of God, and thus much in the text is replenished and fixed. The same thing that prompted both the reverend epiphany at one time to take up the pen was serving at one time: this is the lack of complete lives of St. Sergius in the cash of the spiritual literature. Just think: who was the reverend Sergius for our Russian church, for the Russian state, for the Russian people?
