The book of the remarkable poet Alexander Trifonovich Tvardovsky (1910-1971) includes his best works - the poems "Vasily Tyorkin" and "Tyorkin in the Afterlife", as well as poems from the war years. Tyorkin, a simple private, lively and experienced soldier, is a collective, epic and concise image of the Russian soldier of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Through flexible poetic lines, the author managed to convey to the reader the richness of the hero's nature. The pictures, filled with immense tragedy, are interspersed with poignant lyrical digressions or sly, heartfelt jokes.
