In 1796, the premiere of the ballet 'The Forest Maiden' created by Paul Wranitzky in collaboration with Joseph Kinsky took place in Vienna. The most popular number of their ballet was the 'Russian Dance'. Its theme formed the basis of the variation cycle of the young Ludwig van Beethoven. The variations are published in the edition by Hans von Bülow. The publication is intended for pianists of middle and higher music educational institutions, performing artists, and lovers of piano music.
