The monograph is devoted to the history of the formation of the Finnish Orthodox Church, the autonomy of which in 1921 was provided by the Moscow Patriarchate. The main events accompanying this process were investigated by the author in the context of their influence on the life of the Brotherhood of the Valaam Monastery. The abode was torn off from Russia after the proclamation of Independence Finland in 1918. In the book, such issues as calendar reform and the change of jurisdiction of the Finnish Orthodox Church, the split of the Valaam fraternity on the stage trucks and newsnels, the fate of Russian monastery in Finland, the relationship of the Valaam monastery with Finland church management and Moscow Patriarchate after World War II. The monograph was prepared on the basis of archival sources, many of which are first introduced into scientific turnover, is equipped with applications.
