Schiigumen John - in the world Ivan Alekseevich Alekseev - Born on February 14, 1873 in the peasant family. The native of the Tver Province, Ivan Alekseev, sixteen-year-old young men fell on Valaam and remained in the Transfiguration Monastery. To the brethren ranked in 1907, after three years, he was tonsured in monasticism with the name Iacinf. In 1921, ordained in Ierodicone, then in Hieromonach, at the same time he was erected in San Igumen and appointed the abbot of the Pecheneg monastery. Ten years later, Igumen Jacintf returned to the Spaso-Preobrazhensky monastery, led the farm of the Baptist Skit. In 1933 he accepted a schima named John, however, he did not go to the shutter: he was a monastic confessor, looked at all Valaam monks and many worldly. Schiigumen John died in the Novo-Valaam Monastery in Finland on June 5, 1958
