The manual is dedicated to vaginal access in modern operative gynecology, its place, and significance. Based on fundamental works of the XIX-XX centuries, through the prism of accumulated literary data in recent decades and the authors' own experience, various aspects of a wide range of operative interventions performed by vaginal method (a term proposed by D.O. Ottom) are considered. To solve the tasks set, the classic division of the book into general and special parts is used. In the nine chapters of the general part, the history of this direction of operative gynecology and nuances of the topographical anatomy of organs and tissues subjected to surgical treatment are outlined, taking into account the specifics of the access used. Issues related to preparing patients for upcoming interventions and organizing surgical work are detailed. The seven chapters of the special part contain descriptions of operative techniques used in correcting pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, and other operative interventions performed by vaginal access - from suturing vesicovaginal fistulas to labioplasty. The publication is intended for obstetrician-gynecologists, clinical residents, and senior medical students who have decided to dedicate themselves to obstetrics and gynecology.
