Avilov’s prose is bitter, sometimes tragic, but there is no doubt that it is absolutely reliable. The heroes of Avilov are sometimes antiheroes. But we, together with the author, understand that the matter is not in alcohol or erratic relations (this is only a form of despair) - but in the absence of love and any life support.
Is there hope? There is. And Avilov very accurately and talentedly means it. Hope is female beauty, kindness, a heightened feeling of a beautiful world surrounding us. And the most important thing is the author’s nobility - neither rudeness nor cold arrogance is characteristic of him, he is a soul with his heroes. The “plot double” of the author, telling about his troubles, is also bright, although it falls in the situation very risky ... Well, how else do you find yourself next to your heroes? Everywhere - life, and you need to love and appreciate it, and do not wait for some other, ideal - which, probably, will never be. This is the meaning of Avilov’s book. And this thought seems very courageous and relevant to me
