This monograph is devoted to the history of Moscow University. In it, the development of historical science at Moscow University is considered through the prism of the scientific and social activities of one of the most famous professors-historians of the time of Vladimir Ivanovich Gerier. Having come to the university in the era of Nikolai I, V. Gerier, survived all the most important stages of its development and eventually witnessed how the university has lost its position of the Imperial in 1917.
