Based on the memories of friends and colleagues of the artist, rumors and myths, scarce facts and few documents, the story by Enna Alennik "Reminder," and the memoirs of art historians and artists, the biography of the Russian painter Alexander Vasilievich Nikolaev (1897-1957) has been reconstructed. He wanted to replicate the experience of Paul Gauguin, Arminius Vambery - and ultimately became Usto Mumin. The brightest, happiest, and most creatively fulfilling period in the artist's life turned out to be the 1920s. It was during this time that the works were created, which became the main ones for Usto Mumin and recognizable as "Ustomuminovskie" for the viewers. However, in the artist's fate, they turned into problems as they did not fit into the ideology of that time. The author's first approach to the biography of Usto Mumin was the book of 2014 "A.V. Nikolaev - Usto Mumin: fate in history and culture (reconstruction of the artist's biography)." The current edition is a standalone book that includes a large amount of new material: newly discovered evidence and illustrations that were not previously published. Among them are Usto Mumin's youthful poems, the legend he composed "Obi-Rahmat," valuable testimonies of Olga Bessarabova about his time in Voronezh and brief stay in Orenburg, memories of Olga Manuilova, Galina Kozlovskaya, and others, a transcript of Usto Mumin's creative evening where a very important speech by the artist analyzing his own creative path was recorded.
