The objective course of development of compositional form in the history of visual (creative) and visual arts shows the inseparable unity of substantive (verbal factors, "decoration", aesthetic function) and formal (compositional) elements. However, the balance of these two definitions, philosophical categories of dualism, is always in a certain ratio that cannot be measured mathematically, but it is possible to determine the equilibrium or predominance of one of the above elements. At a certain historical stage of the development of compositional form, engineering art emerges from the dominance of architecture and becomes not only the object of science and technology, but also an independent, important type of creative art - engineering. At the present stage, the predictions of Burov A. K. and Le Corbusier, expressed by them in the 1920s, have come true: engineering art has become a constructive part of construction, and architecture becomes an aesthetic part in creating the volumetric-spatial composition of designing vertical structures.
This manual can be useful for students studying design, for artistic, construction, engineering universities.
