The book is devoted to the history of uniform clothing of students of civilian educational institutions of the Russian Empire of the end of the XVIII - mid-XIX century. For the first time in domestic historiography, differences in students and students of concrete educational institutions during the heyday of the "Formation", who came to the era of Emperor Nikolai I. The monograph was written on the basis of the analysis of legislative sources, archival materials and memoirs of contemporaries. The publication is illustrated by previously not published exemplary patterns, copyright schemes of uniforms and portraits of students.
