The book, which the reader opens, was written by Otto Sverdrup (1854-1930) - the famous Arctic traveler, the sailor, satellite and the like-minded person, Nansen, for four years he headed the team of the legendary ship "Fram". In 1898-1902, Sverdrup was led by his own expedition to the "Fram", which traced and hit a number of islands in the Canadian Arctic Arkipelago, later called Sverdruup, and also examined almost all the sheds between them. And this is not a complete list of research achievements of brave Norwegian. No wonder on the emblem of the Norwegian Polar Institute, three profiles are depicted: Nansen, Amundsen and Sverdrup.
